Simon Johnson is an economics professor at MIT’s Sloan School of Business, a former Chief Economist at the IMF, and a well-known blogger at BaselineScenario.com. You can draw your own conclusions about where he lands politically, in part based on his publishing history, including his new book “Jump-Starting America”. The book sets out an argument for a return to Government investment in R&D, in basic science, and in technology. With co-author Jon Gruber, Johnson argues that the path to sustained domestic growth runs through such investment.
Why am I mentioning this? Because Johnson identifies potential next-generation tech hubs in the book’s Appendix – including Lubbock! See here and here.
